  1. policy relating to the academic matters of the University
  2. policy and procedure relating to the welfare of the faculty, as described in the Faculty Handbook.

The Senate shall establish committees, standing and special, as necessary to conduct its authorized business, collect information, promote faculty interest, and express faculty opinion.

A full description of the powers of the Faculty Senate as well as the powers of the faculty are contained within the Faculty Handbook located within the documents section of this website.

Note from the Chair

Welcome to the Midwestern University Faculty Senate Website. I am honored to serve as the Chair of the Faculty Senate for both the Downers Grove and Glendale campuses.  You can find the senators for your specific college under the “Senators” tab under “Departments.”

The mission of the Faculty Senate is listed above, and its functions are described in more detail in the Faculty Handbook.  I think the most important function is found in Article I, section 2, letter G: “Address any matter of importance to the faculty of Midwestern University, and make recommendations to the President and Board of Trustees on those matters when deemed appropriate.”  I hope that you will avail yourself of the opportunity bring to the Faculty Senate, through your senators, those matters that are important to you.
